Hamworthy Pumps wins another pump package contract for a Modec offshore project

All good things come in threes: For the third time in less than a year, Modec has chosen Hamworthy Pumps as the supplier of a complete pump package for a FPSO project in Senegal.

Following a change of ownership in 2018, Hamworthy Pumps is now beginning to see the great results of a new, ambitious growth plan. An increased focus on the offshore segment has just secured another pump package contract for a standalone Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility, which will be deployed at the Sangomar field south of Dakar, Senegal.

The FPSO unit is being built by Modec, which, for the third time in less than a year, has chosen Hamworthy Pumps as the pump package supplier for an offshore project. In both May and September 2020, Modec placed orders for a complete pump package for FPSO projects in Brazil.

“As a supplier of Modec’s for many years, we have been supporting them on many FPSO projects and have proven our capability to deliver. The trust and confidence that we have built up over time makes the difference in Modec’s vendor selection. With the ability to fulfil stringent offshore requirements, engineering expertise and technical know-how, we are suited to support all our offshore customers,” says Lennon Teo, Regional Sales Director at Hamworthy Pumps.

The total offshore package is for 31 pumps and will be delivered in October 2021. In 2020, Hamworthy Pumps won an order for two Fire Water Pump Packages (FWPP) for the same project.

100,000 barrels of crude oil per day
The new FPSO has been ordered by Woodside Energy and is to be commissioned as the first of its kind in Senegalese waters in early 2023. The FPSO will be capable of processing 100,000 barrels of crude oil per day, 130 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and 145,000 barrels of water injection per day. It will have a minimum storage capacity of 1,300,000 barrels of crude oil.

A FPSO is a vessel which is specifically designed for the processing of hydrocarbons and storage of oil.

The order for the Woodside FPSO consists of:

2* Central cooling fresh water pump

2* Topside air compressor cooling fresh water booster pump

2* GTG MGO supply pump

2* Vacuum condenser cooling seawater pump

2* Atmospheric condenser cooling seawater pump

1* Inert gas scrubber cooling seawater pump

2* Deck water seal pump
