Hamworthy Pumps secures Indonesian FWPP contract
Convincing offshore references and a strong COVID-19 response made all the difference when PT Timas Suplindo chose Hamworthy Pumps as their supplier for a new Floating Production Unit.
Hamworthy Pumps has secured a contract with Indonesian PT Timas Suplindo to supply Fire Water Pump Packages (FWPP) and Jockey Pumps for a new Floating Production Unit (FPU) that will extract gas in the East Java Sea.
This is the first time that Hamworthy Pumps will supply Timas, a specialist within engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) for customers in the oil and gas industry. Hamworthy Pumps’ comprehensive references in the offshore segment, not least the numerous deliveries of FWPP solutions for FPU projects, are the primary reason that the Indonesian EPCIC contractor looked to Singapore and Hamworthy Pumps.

For this project, Hamworthy Pumps will supply two FWPP units and two jockey pumps with expected delivery in July 2021. There was an initial challenge to the process when the customer was forced to modify the orientation of the inlet and outlet ports late in the design phase. Yet, thanks to a high degree of flexibility, Hamworthy Pumps’ engineers were able to adapt the solution quickly, so that the project could continue without major delays.
The FPU will be used to process and compress gas from three gas fields in the Madura Strait offshore Indonesia, with the first gas anticipated around 2022-2023.
